In AF.C mode with AF coupled to the shutter, quickshift doesn't work well to adjust the focus as the camera will always be fighting you (this may also have been what the OP was doing wrong), but quickshift is still handy for 'priming' the focusing ring before engaging autofocus (i.e. ![]() ![]() In AF.C and back button focus, you can quickly go back and forth between AF and full time manual by pressing or releasing the AF button. In AF.C mode, you wouldn't want to keep the AF button pressed while adjusting via quickshift as the camera will fight you. If you're using Af.S and the back button to AF, you can keep it pressed while adjusting, but there's no need unless you want the thumb workout. If you're using the shutter half-press to AF, you'd actually need to keep it half-pressed while adjusting via quickshift and all the way up until you release the shutter, otherwise the camera will re-focus once you press the shutter button again (this may have been what the OP was doing wrong). In AF.S mode after a focus lock, you can keep the AF button pressed and take over with quick shift with no trouble. The EVO instructions were a little hard to understand, as I DID NOT RECEIVE any Oh well, armed with Wayne’s book and the internet all turned out fine. The project was not that difficult about 2 hours. ? Would if not be better to release the AF button while performing QuickShift adjustments ? Otherwise I'm thinking that the AF will keep trying to move the focus against your manual inputs. I ordered an EVO SSK from Pelican the B&M was out of stock.
